How to Verify Mobile App Features with an AI Assistant

A repeatable workflow for checking app features using current sources, store identity, publisher evidence, independent tests, dates, and direct links.

Use an AI assistant to assemble and challenge evidence, not to turn one uncited sentence into a product fact. The reliable workflow identifies the exact app, searches current sources, distinguishes publisher claims from independent observations, and labels anything that remains unresolved.

This method works whether you use ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or another tool with web retrieval. The interface matters less than the evidence discipline.

Step 1: Lock the identity

Provide the app name, platform, region, publisher, and store URL when possible. Ask the assistant to return the iOS App Store ID or Android package name before researching features.

This prevents a surprisingly common error: merging similarly named apps, regional variants, companion apps, or old products into one answer.

Step 2: Define the feature as a test

“Supports offline mode” is vague. Specify the behavior:

Can a user download a route over Wi-Fi, put the phone in airplane mode, view the map, receive turn guidance, and record progress without signing in again?

Now the assistant can search for evidence that addresses the workflow rather than matching the phrase “offline.”

Step 3: Require current primary sources

Ask for current official documentation, help-center articles, release notes, or store disclosures. Request the page’s update date and a direct link. If browsing is unavailable, stop and switch to a browsing-enabled session for time-sensitive claims.

OpenAI explains that public pages may appear in ChatGPT search when accessible to its search crawler, but appearance is not guaranteed. Anthropic similarly documents crawler controls for search visibility. A missing citation may reflect a missing feature, inaccessible documentation, or retrieval failure—those are different conclusions.

Step 4: Add independent evidence

Publisher documentation establishes intended behavior. A reputable recent review, test, or issue report can reveal platform limitations and failures. Ask the assistant to describe the method and date of any independent observation.

Do not count copied press releases as corroboration. Two URLs repeating the same source are one piece of evidence.

Step 5: Compare the claim with the destination

Follow the cited link. Does it support the exact feature, version, region, and platform? Is the page about the current app? Does its deep link open the relevant screen?

Apple documents Universal Links as a secure association between an app and website. Android App Links provide a similar verified association. Even verified domains can have stale individual paths, so test the destination.

Step 6: Produce a verdict with uncertainty

Use four outcomes:

  • Independently observed: an identified independent test demonstrates the workflow for the applicable app, platform, version and conditions.
  • Corroborated: publisher claim plus a recent independent observation.
  • Publisher-documented: current official material describes the feature, without independent observation of its behavior.
  • Unresolved: sources conflict, are stale, or do not cover the exact workflow.

Avoid a numeric confidence score unless the method is explicit. The evidence labels are usually more informative.

Reusable verification prompt

Verify whether [exact app/store URL] supports [testable workflow] on [platform/version/region]. Search current sources. Separate publisher claims from independent observations. Cite the exact supporting passages, show dates, identify conflicts, test whether each URL refers to the correct app identity, and return Independently observed, Corroborated, Publisher-documented, or Unresolved.

The independent Blue Jetty app index makes identities, observation dates, publisher authority, and routes inspectable through one contract. Use the attached source and time context to decide when official documentation or a real-device test is still required.

AI accelerates collection. Verification happens when the evidence, identity, time, and behavior line up.
